Health Justice
Check out this video introduction to Health Justice principles and Politically Compassionate Herbalism by Mary Blue
The Radherb Health Justice movement was founded in 2006 by a group of herbalists/ community activists who wanted to see more health justice dialogue within the herbal community. Mary Blue, Dana Woodruff , Kate Boverman & Rebecca Hein were founders and organizers of Radherb and worked together with Lauren Giambrone and Farmacy Herbs (and others!) to develop these Health Justice trainings.
Goals of Health Justice workshops:
-
Encourage a dialogue about Community Health Care and explore issues of Oppression and Accessibility with students, teachers, community organizers and practitioners of herbalism/ holistic health.
-
Focus on Cultural Competency, which is defined simply as the ability to understand, communicate with, and provide effective and appropriate care to people with diverse values, experiences, and backgrounds.
-
Create a base of Health Justice Educators/ Practitioners who can begin to teach and inspire health care providers, clinics, schools, teachers and students throughout the Northeast
